The CW have released the first official synopsis of the upcoming third season of Arrow.

Or, perhaps, the first episode? It certainly sounds very specific to the season's opening. In any event, here's what's up on the CW press site:

In the aftermath of this victory, Season Three opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen – not as long as the city needs The Arrow.

September, of course, will see the release of Arrow Season 2.5, a new, digital-first comic from Arrow writers Marc Guggenheim and Keto Shimizu. It's likely some of the blanks will be filled in there. Certainly it's interesting that it seems the season will start with Lance having been promoted to Captain and recovering from the injuries sustained in the Season Two finale.

It's also interesting that a villain "reappears." That, again, may point to this being an episode, rather than season, synopsis since it's been established that a new Count Vertigo will be introduced in the first episode of Season Three.

The season will see Oliver meet DC superheroes Katana and The Atom, who will apparently be reinvented as a corporate magnate now in charge of Queen Consolidated rather than a college professor or government scientist. It debuts in October.
