James Gunn birthday

In order to celebrate Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn's birthday and maybe thank him a little bit for creating a hit movie, Marvel gifted Gunn with a replica of the orb from Guardians of the Galaxy. Gunn shared a photo of the orb he received with his fans via social media.

The orb is on a plaque with a placard inscribed, "That was a pretty good plan." Obviously, the inscription not only quotes a famous Peter Quill line from the movie, but it's also an acknowledgement that Gunn had a pretty good plan in putting together the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Now, there is something particularly interesting about Gunn's orb, which is generating a lot of fan debate. The orb is open, and inside of the orb is a red Infinity Stone. Of course, in the movie, the Infinity Stone appeared to be purple, so many are wondering why Marvel gave Gunn a red Infinity Stone.

In response to a fan question on Twitter about which Infinity Stone was used in Guardians of the Galaxy, Gunn had responded that it was the Power Stone. Of course, his answer had created debate online, because in the comic books the Power Stone (Gem) is actually red.

Could it be that the Infinity Stone in Guardians of the Galaxy is supposed to be red, and it just came out looking purple on the big screen after the special effects were added?
