5 Things We Want from Attack On Titan Season 2

After years of waiting, Attack on Titan will be returning to televisions next year with its long-awaited second season. The critically acclaimed series has become an international hit, and fans are more excited than ever to see the violent drama make a comeback.

In 2013, Attack on Titan had few expectations weighing it down, but the increasingly popular series will have all eyes on it next April. The show is slated to return with millions of eyes watching its every move, and there are several things which fans want to see happen in the second season.

At ComicBook.com, we’ve made a list of five things fans are hoping to see when Attack on Titan airs Season 2. Be warned though; Massive spoilers may lie ahead!

Identities Of Colossal, Armored Titans

When Season 2 rears its head, it will do so with a blessing from one of the show’s most feared Titans, the Colossus. The infamous titan was the one who kicked off Attack on Titan when he breached Wall Maria for other Titans, and fans are ready to learn more about the deadly figure.

If you are familiar with the manga, then you already know just how the Colussus – and Armored – Titan really is. The two are actually members of the 104th Training Corps who are able to shift into Titans much like Eren and Annie. Bertolt and Reiner are behind the respective Titans, and they will play a key role in Attack on Titan‘s next season when the show enters the ‘Clash of the Titans’ arc.

Filler Episodes & Characterization

Brace yourselves, fans want a little filler; Shocking, right?

When it comes to anime, not many viewers would ask for pointless filler episodes, but Attack on Titan could stand one or two here and there. The series is notoriously dark and gory, leaving fans shocked after every episode ends. The series houses a large cast of characters who often die in unspeakable ways, but the protagonists who do live deserve a break every so often. When Season 2 releases, fans hope that Attack on Titan will spend more time on developing side characters of the 104th Training Corps before everything promptly goes to hell.

Beast Titan

Should Attack on Titan tackle the ‘Clash of the Titans’ arc like fans believe, then it will have to introduce viewers to the Beast Titan. The strange, ape-like beast is unlike any other Titan ever seen. The creature has dark fur covering his entire body, and its arms are disproportionately long to its body. Unlike its contemporaries, the Beast Titan maintains its intellect and can even speak, something which dumbfounds members of the Survey Corps.

Manga readers may wonder whether the Beast Titan’s identity will be revealed in Season 2, but it seems unlikely. There will be plenty of story to cover without adding in family drama. If you want to know who the Titan is, then you will be surprised to learn he is none other than Zeke Yeager, the older half-brother to Eren. And, sadly, he is one nasty dude.

Ymir, The Titan-Shifter

If you’ve wondered whether something was off with Ymir, then you should congratulate your instincts. The critical, complex character is yet another graduate of the 104th Training Corps – and fans are hoping to see a lot more of her in Season 2 of Attack on Titan. If you know know the series’ lore, then you already are aware that Ymmir is the fifth known Titan-Shifter like Eren.

Once a mindless beast, Ymir was stuck outside Wall Maria when Reiner and Bertolt were on their way to infiltrate the city in search of the fabled Coordinates. Her Titan form consumed one of the duo’s friends and stole his shifting powers by doing so. Having lived away from humanity for so long, Ymir is privvy to knowledge about Titans, and she becomes a coveted pawn during the ‘Clash of the Titans’ arc.

Season 3 Cliffhanger; No Original Ending

With so much story to cover in Season 2, fans want Attack on Titan to keep its main storyline as canon as possible. The season was delayed more than once before creators were waiting for the original manga to provide them source material, and there is plenty of content to mine at this point.

So far, Attack on Titan remained faithful to its source manga, and fans are desperate to keep it that way. There is no quicker way to sour a show than by giving it an original, anime-only ending that foregoes the canon. Audiences will surely be left wanting a third season of Attack on Titan, so the creative team best keep their stories rooted in Hajime Isayama’s genius. But, by all means – leave fans wanting more. A cliffhanger like the one seen in the Season 1 finale would not be amiss.
