Francesco Francavilla, the best-selling artist of Afterlife With Archie (among many others) who frequently endears himselves to pop culture fans by doing unofficial posters for movies and TV shows on his mind for his blog, offered up something a bit more somber today: a remambrance of the late Maya Angelou. You can check out the image above (and the tweet below, in which Francavilla included a brief comment on her passing).Angelou, who passed away today, was an author and poet best known for her 1969 autobiography I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which told the story of her life up to the age of seventeen. She published seven autobiographies in total, as well as books of essays, poetry, plays, movies, and television shows spanning more than fifty years. Themes of race were pervasive in much of her work, and she’s been called “the black woman’s poet laureate.”
