The synopsis has the team seeking out aid from an Asgardian in piecing together the mystery of the Kree monolith.

Fitz and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life.

So who is the Asgardians that Fitz and friends go to for help? Jaime Alexander has guest starred as Lady Sif in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. twice already, but her appearances have always been highly publicized in advance as a way to attract viewers for a ratings bump. Alexander is also busy with her own TV series, NBC’s Blindspot, this season.

It’s more likely Elliot Randolph, the Asgardian masquerading as human first introduced in the Season 1 episode “The Well.” Played by Peter MacNicol, Randolph used his firsthand knowledge of Asgard to take a position as a University professor. Coulson even turned to Randolph for consultation when Mjolnir fell to earth. After the dust up over the Berserker Staff in “The Well,” Coulson advised Randolph to move to Portland, Oregon, even promising to visit Randolph there. Assuming Randolph took his advice, this means Fitz and the gang know where to find him.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on Sept. 29.
