Just days after a piece of merchandising gave fans a detailed look at the design for Dane DeHaan’s take on The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Green Goblin (with a great deal of fan criticism heaped upon it), Sony have released the first official still featuring the character. There’s certainly more green than we’d previously seen–and he generally looks less like something out of Beavis and Butt-Head (more Evil Ed from the original Fright Night now). The image is still unlikely to please purists, though. “How hard is it to grasp the concept of a green mask?” is a question we’ve seen more than once in comment threads critical of his book–and that of Sam Raimi’s take on the character in Spider-Man, where he was played by Willem Dafoe.Total Film reports that the image comes courtesy of FindAnyFilm.com, a UK-based streaming video sales and rental portal which has teamed up with Sony Pictures for Moments Worth Paying For, an anti-piracy campaign being spearheaded by The Amazing Spider-Man 2–but we haven’t been able to find it on that site, and Total Film‘s article also says “exclusive,” so we’re linking back to them. You can see the full image below.
