Marvel’s littlest hero is climbing the ranks of the studio’s box office successes. With a new domestic total of $177 million, Ant-Man has surpassed the domestic total of Captain America: The First Avenger ($176.6 million), according to Forbes. That makes Ant-Man the third lowest grossing Marvel Studios film, above The First Avenger and The Incredible Hulk ($130 million), despite being the cheapest film the studio has made so far.

With the film’s Chinese opening still a month away, Ant-Man could surpass Thor‘s $441 million global box office take. Estimates suggest the film has already past the $400 million mark worldwide.

While inflation of ticket prices since the first Captain America‘s 2011 releaseand a bump from 3-D audiences may have something to do with Ant-Man‘s rise in the ranks, it’s still an impressive climb for Marvel’s smallest film.

Ant-Man is now playing in theaters. Check out more box office numbers on the ComicBook.com list of top-grossing comic book movies.
