Last season, Arrow saw Felicity undergo some major changes. The character ended her relationship with Oliver Queen, causing a firestorm of controversy as fans debated whether the couple could reunite. And, what’s more, Season 4 showed Felicity make the difficult decision to bomb the town of Havenrock after Damien Darhk used the Rubicon to launch a nuclear missile. Felicity’s interference led to the deaths of thousands, forcing her to reevaluate her place on Team Arrow. And, now, the series’ executive producer is teasing bigger things are coming for Felicity.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Marc Guggenheim said Felicity will be dealing with the consequences of Havenrock. “In the first five episodes, we face head-on the decision that Felicity made,” he explained. “We are most definitely not ignoring it.”
“We’re positioning her to do something in the second half of the year that is really, really key, and that isn’t about her relationship with Oliver or even necessarily her father or her mother,” Marc went on to say. “It’s really new territory for her, and we’ve very excited about it. Some big things are going to happen with Felicity.”
For some fans, they might be bummed to hear that Felicity’s storyline next season may not involve her hooking up with Oliver Queen. Stephen Amell commented on the couple’s potential reunion next season during a convention this summer where he said, “I think that it’s important to remember that relationships on the show don’t have to be only defined by romance. Oliver and Felicity could have a wonderful, fulfilling, dynamic relationship and not be together, right?”
And, what’s more, Emily Bett Rickards confirmed her character would be getting a new beau early on in Season 5. Speaking with TVLine, the actress said those rumors were true and that “she steps on it pretty hot off the bat. You’ll meet him quite quickly.” Wendy Mericle, a showrunner on Arrow, echoed these statements about the couple’s indefinite separation.
“They’re both in crisis mode. Oliver’s got two really big jobs, and [Felicity] is spinning out about Havenrock,” Wendy said. “Until they’ve gotten some clarity for themselves, there’s not much room for the relationship side of things.”
As for what Felicity might do next season, Marc is remaining tight-lipped. If you’ve got a hunch about what Felicity might run up against in Season 5, drop a comment below and let us know what you think!
