Arrow Midseason Finale to Be Directed by Percy Jackson’s Thor Freudenthal

The episode, which will follow on the heels of a two-episode crossover with The Flash, will serve as the show’s midseason finale this year. That’s according to the initial Flash announcement, which identified the crossover episodes as the penultimate episodes of 2014 for both shows.

Guggenheim wrote the screenplay for Sea of Monsters which, he said, the studio was nearly ready to scrap at the time in favor of adapting the next book in the Jackson series instead. He was given the job to do in three weeks, or they would move on and leave Monsters behind.

“That world was so vibrant to me, it really was a piece of cake,” said Guggenheim. “I actually am writing a movie right now for the dirctor, Troy Freudenthal, and Thor’s actually going to come on board and direct episode nine of Arrow this year.

Arrow returns on The CW at  8 p.m. on October 8.
