“Hello,Thanks so much for your support of Batman: Arkham Origins on Wii U.We are contacting you today because you purchased the Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass for Wii U. We hope you’ve been enjoying the content delivered thus far. Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U. As a result, we will be crediting the entire $19.99+tax cost of the Season Pass back to your Nintendo eShop account. You will still be able to enjoy the content already released thus far.We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your support of the game.Sincerely,Nintendo of America Inc.”
It looks like Warner Bros. didn’t sell enough season passes on the Wii U to make further developing DLC for the system worth their time, and so they’ve simply decided to pull the plug. This has to come as a blow to Nintendo fans who own the Wii U. Arkham Origins is one of the few major third party games to come to the struggling system, and now fans won’t even be able to play through the additional content.WB’s move may be a sign of waning support for Nintendo’s latest console, following news that Nintendo’s goal of selling 9 million Wii U’s by the end of their financial year seems well out of reach, with sales last reported as sitting at 3.91 million units.Batman: Arkham Origins‘ upcoming storyline DLC is still planned for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC later in 2014.
