Could Lex Luthor’s purple and green power armor show up in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice?

As strange as it is to imagine something so fanciful showing up in the “gritty” world of Zack Snyder’s Justice League films, an earlier rumor has started getting some Internet traction thanks to a new action figure spotted by The Superman Homepage.

The three-pack, which includes Superman and the armored Batman already seen in promotional material for the movie, includes an ‘exclusive” Lex Luthor in armor figure — although it isn’t clear what retailer might have that “exclusive.” Update: Image removed by request.

A solid bet might be either Wal-Mart, who had an extensive merchandising agreement with Warner Bros. for Man of Steel, including an exclusive prequel comic, and Target, who has a standing relationship with DC Entertainment.

Of course, toys are rarely a good indicator of what actually will appear in the film: just look at the wide variety of colors and styles of Superman costumes offered in the Man of Steel action figure line for confirmation of that. Still, the fact that this particular toy seems to confirm an existing rumor is interesting.

In Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters on March 25, 2016.
