Carrie Kelley Robin

So this is not exactly a spoiler, or maybe it is? But blaring across the headlines today is that Carrie Kelley is the new Robin, but what the New York Post actually revealed is that Carrie Kelley is not exactly the new Robin. In an article that is now quickly making the rounds online, the New York Post reported that Carrie Kelley, who was introduced in The Dark Knight Returns back in 1986, will be appearing as Robin on the cover of Batman and Robin #19. When the first part of the Batman and Robin #19 cover was revealed, Comicbook.com was first to speculate that it could be introducing a female Robin, because the cover was a homage to The Dark Knight Returns. Little did we know, it would actually be Carrie Kelley on the other side of that gatefold. Now, here is where it gets really interesting. Even though Carrie Kelley has previously just appeared in alternate-reality stories, the new version of Carrie Kelley will be older and will be part of the New 52 continuity. Carrie Kelley will be a girl who knew Damian. However, according to writer Peter Tomasi, “What you’ll find out once you crack the book, is that she’s not exactly the ‘new Robin,’ but I don’t want to spoil the story and her introduction into Bruce Wayne/Batman’s life.”But Tomasi also adds that Carrie Kelley is not just a one issue play and that she will be around for awhile, whether her role turns out to be the new Robin or not.
