The “Pinheads” episode of Comic Book Men opens with Bryan Johnson reminiscing about made-for-TV horror movies. Bryan admits to sleeping with the lights on for a year after seeing Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.A lady brings a Batman bowling ball into the Secret Stash to sell. Walt Flanagan reminds Bryan of when they were in a bowling league together. Walt says he got out of bowling because he got so caught up in it. Ming Chen reveals that a bunch of guys from the movie Clerks also have a bowling league. Walt says he would love to play against the Clerks team. The seller asks $150 for the Batman bowling ball, but Walt initially only offers $75. After some negotiation, Walt agrees to buy the Batman bowling ball for $99. Walt calls Mike over and says they are going to get bowling shirts and play the Clerks team.A seller comes into the Secret Stash to sell some Famous Monsters magazines. The seller reveals that his dad worked for Warren, who published the magazines in the seventies. The customer is asking $400 for the magazines, but Walt initially only offers $250. After some negotiation, Walt agrees to buy the magazines for $275.A seller brings a Shape Shifter Punisher action figure into the Secret Stash to sell. However, Walt says that they don’t buy loose action figures. The seller then points out that the action figure is discontinued, because it transforms to reveal a weapon in a rather inappropriate place. The seller says the figure normally goes for $75, but Walt initially only offers $30. After some negotiation and a $5 contribution from Ming, Walt agrees to pay $35 for the Punisher action figure.At Asbury Lanes, Walt is telling Bryan, Mike, and Ming about how fate brought them into a bowling game against the Clerks team. Scott Schiaffo, Ernie O’Donnell, Brian O’Holloran, and Jason Mewes of the Clerks team come swaggering in. After a game of rock, paper, and scissors, the Secret Stash team wins first bowl.As the games begin, the Clerks team is throwing strike after strike, while it’s mostly gutter balls for the Secret Stash team. Walt tells the other Secret Stash guys since he was in Clerks, he was quitting their team and bowling on the Clerks team. After Walt joins the other team, the Secret Stash teams starts bowling great. On the last frame, the Secret Stash team has an opportunity to win, but Mike misses hitting the pins. The Clerks team wins.
