Johns revealed the news after co-host Kevin Smith pressed him for new information about the cinematic Justice League.”We’ve been to the bottom of the ocean,” Johns said.”We’ve been to ancient Greek mythology, we’ve been to the past and future with the Flash, we’ve been to the digital world with Cyborg. We still got to go to space. So the Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps are coming to join the Justice League universe.”After Johns mentioned the Green Lantern Corps, several images of Hal Jordan, John Stewart and other Green Lanterns were shown before a specialized Green Lantern Corps title screen appeared on screen.
Warner Bros. previously teased a Green Lantern Corps movie last summer at SDCC, but provided no other information other than plans were underway for a film. While it was widely presumed a Green Lantern (either Hal Jordan or John Stewart) would appear in the Justice League movies, this is the first confirmation that the popular DC hero will appear in the upcoming superhero films. It’s doubtful that this movie will have any tie to the much derided 2011 Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds, although no actors have been announced to play Green Lantern in the Justice League films and resulting spinoffs.
The Green Lantern Corps movie will be released in 2020.Justice League: Part 1 will be released in 2017.
