Deadpool will retain its title at the top of the box office this weekend, according to current estimates. The film, a Rated R superhero movie (a rarity in the booming industry of superhero films), will easily stay on top of the box office with around $55 million after a $16.2 million Friday.
The movie will also pass $200 million on Saturday, after nine days, making it the fastest R-rated film to hit that mark in the domestic market. Not bad for a $58 million production budget film that it took 11 years to convince the studio to even make.

Elsewhere in theaters this weekend, Risen – a new biblical film and Kung Fu Panda 3 will be battling it out for #2, but both will be far behind Deadpool to the tune of over $40 million dollars lower. The Witch should open in fourth with around $8 million.
Interestingly, the $55 million mark Deadpool is now expected to hit in its second weekend was originally 20th Century Fox’s earliest prediction for its first weekend in theaters, which of course it blew away with a $132 million opener.
Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by Tim Miller is in theaters now.
