The 2007 anime series was met with incredible critical acclaim, and quickly became a favorite among fans as well. Based on Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s manga of the same name, Death Note found favor among fans of the genre. To this day, it remains one of the most memorable anime series’ in recent memory.
One of the most iconic parts of Death Note, aside from its brillian cat-and-mouse story and unforgettable characters, is it’s incredibly catchy theme song. “The World” is music to the ears of many anime fans, but one of these has taken their love for the jam to the next level.
YouTube user JaianMusic has created a piano cover of the Death Note theme, and it’s just as enticing as you would expect it do be. Simplifying all of the wonderful remedies of the original, this rendition immediately turns the nostalgia dial up to 11, and causes any fan to want to give the series another go-round.
The passion exhibited by this fan is a great example of the fire that exists within most followers of the anime genre – it’s no wonder why this style of animation has become a worldwide phenomenon.

Directed by Tetsurล Araki, Death Note ran for 37 episodes from 2006-2007. While the show has been off the air for almost 10 years, 2017 is gearing up for a milestone for the franchise. American horror director Adam Wingard (Blair Witch, You’re Next) is currently helming a live-action adaptation of the series. Set to air on Netflix later this year, the Death Note film will star Keith Stanfield, Nat Wolff, and Willem Dafoe.
