Saturday numbers are coming in and Deadline is reporting that Fifty Shades Of Grey will gross $81.67M for the weekend and $90.6M for the four-day. It easily whipped the previous Presidents’ Day/Valentine’s Day record set by Garry Marshall’s romantic-comedy Valentine’s Day, which earned $63M in 2010.

Fifty Shades Of Grey had an opportunity to beat Mel Gibson’s Passions Of The Christ record for the best R-rated opening in February, but now appears as though it doesn’t have enough stamina to reach the $83.8M mark.
Meanwhile, Kingsman: The Secret Service outperformed 20th Century’s Fox’s conservative estimates. The studio had expected it to pull in $20M this weekend, but it will actually pull in $35.6M for the weekend and $41M for the four-day holiday.
Last week’s box office champ, Paramount’s The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water will cross the $100M benchmark in its second week. It added $30.54M this weekend and will have a four-day holiday total of $37.6M.
