Justice League: Throne of Atlantis is based on the Geoff Johns written storyline that ran in the pages of Justice League and Aquaman. The story sees Atlantis, ruled by Ocean Master, going to war with the surface world following a botched Navy weapons test. Naturally, the Justice League steps in to protect the innocent, leaving Aquaman caught in the middle.
“We meet him at a low point in his life,” says supervising producer James Tucker, who created the version of Aquaman seen the Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series. “He’s a little bit lost. His father has died and he’s always been an outsider, so the one person who had his back is now gone. When that Atlanteans instigate incidents to escalate a war with the surface world, he doesn’t yet know who he is. As he discovers his true history he’s going to have a lot of choices to make. It’s definitely about him finding his own path.”
Aquaman will be voiced by Matt Lanter, who voiced Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The story will continue to the shared animated universe Begun in Justice League: War and feature much of the same voice cast.
