A new episode of Game of Thrones will air tonight on HBO. Following last week’s season 4 premiere, which was the most watched episode of an HBO series since the season finale of The Sopranos, Game of Thrones has set the bar pretty high for the rest of the season. The newest episode is titled “The Lion and the Rose,” a reference to King Joffrey Baratheon (actually a purebred Lannister) and Margaery Tyrell, who will be wed in this episode. George R.R. Martin, creator of the fantasy novels that Game of Thrones is based on, penned this episode himself. In last week’s premiere, “Two Swords,” we saw the heightened tension in House Lannister since Jaime returned without his right hand. Daenerys marched towards Meereen, Sansa met with Ser Dontos, and Ser Davos received a message that may send Stannis Baratheon to the North. In “The Lion and the Rose,” Tyrion lends Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) a hand. Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and Margaery (Natalie Dormer) host a breakfast. At Dragonstone, Stannis (Stephen Dillane) loses patience with Davos (Liam Cunningham). Ramsay (Iwan Rheon) finds a purpose for his pet. North of the Wall, Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) sees where they must go.HBO has released several sneak peak pictures and a preview video for the episode. All are included below.Game of Thrones, “The Lion and the Rose,” is written by George R.R. Martin and directed by Alex Graves. “The Lion and the Rose” will air Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
