In the “Inside the Episode” video, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss discuss the enormity of filming the battle.
“Episode 409 is similar to episode 209, the ‘Blackwater’ episode, in that its contained to one location, one night,” says Weiss. “That said, it’s much more involved than Blackwater was.”
In a second video, George R.R. Martin talks about how formidable a defense the Wall is against invaders.
“The Wall is formidable,” says Martin. “It’s 700 feet high. You don’t even need to shoot arrows, you can drop rocks, you can throw over boiling water, boiling oil, boiling tarโฆ”
Another video goes behind the scenes to show fans the actually making of the battle.
“It’s the most intense piece of filming I’ve done for Game of Thrones by a long way,” says Kit Haringto, who plays Jon Snow.
