The gaming company CMON, partnering with Dark Age Miniatures, recently unveiled their newest project – A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game: Stark vs Lannister. The miniature game – based on George R. R. Martin’s book series, is expected to allow players to “control units of troops and heroes with easy to pick-up rules and fast-paced, brutal gameplay.โ€จ”

By choosing to depict a battle between two of the most prominent houses in the Game of Thrones universe, the miniature game will help fans play out entirely new scenarios. As CMON puts it:

“What if the Red Wedding never happened, and Robb Stark assaulted King’s Landing? Now fans can find out!”

The figures for the game – including classic characters Robb Stark and Jaime Lannister – will be pre-assembled, making them easy to play as soon as you first open the box. And while CMON promises that the game will not be complicated to play, the company reassures that it can help lead to as intricate of scenarios as the player want, with the option to go from “large-scale wars” to “simple skirmishes”

If you’re looking to score this game before the next season of Game of Thrones premieres, you might be out of luck. The project is expected to hit Kickstarter later this year, and will not be available in stores until 2018.

“The A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game lets players take control of their favorite Houses from the novels, represented by trays of high-quality, pre-assembled miniatures, and lead them into battle against their opponents. Players can recreate their favorite moments from the series or create their own stories.”

David Doust, CMON’s founder and president, revealed that he is excited to produce a game for the popular series. “This project allows us to dig deep into George R.R. Martin’s mind and recreate the iconic battles from his award-winning novels on the tabletop.”

Game of Thrones penultimate season begins July 16.
