Gotham’s Jessica Lucas Says Tabitha Might Not Be On Board with Order of St. Dumas

The Galavan siblings have had an interesting and complicated few months on Gotham season two. Since arriving in town, they’ve killed, they’ve had people killed, they’ve plotted, they’ve run afoul of gun shots and stabs and the law – and even, it seems, each other. After Tabby’s plan didn’t quite work out last week, Theo dressed her down. Jessica Lucas, who plays Tabitha, told ComicBook.com in an interview that rift will continue to grow.

“The slow cracks that are forming in the relationship with her brother, her coming into her own, gaining some independence and understanding her power, I think that’s something that will continue to grow,” she teased. “She’ll just keep coming into her own more.”

That comes from “the backlash of episode nine,” when she was “very reckless.” Lucas said Tabitha knows there’s a problem there for Tabitha. “She’s impatient and doesn’t think about the consequences of her actions the way that Theo does. Who she can be without him still remains to be seen and is intriguing, I think.”

That was exacerbated by the tug-of-war between Theo and Tabitha over Barbara, who Lucas says was “a plaything” for them, but not much more. It could lead to something much more dire, though, as Tabitha pulls away from Theo, that means she pulls away from the Order of St. Dumas, too.

“Resentment is building. She’s disillusioned,” the actress says of her character. “I don’t know how on board she’ll continue to be [with the Order of St. Dumas]. She’s not as on board with the plan anymore.”

As for the immediate future, in the penultimate episode of the fall portion of the season, “she meets Alfred, and he proves to be a worthy adversary for her,” she teased. She’s not “challenged very often,” so “it’s exciting for her and also unexpected.” Lucas was very excited about the prospect, too, especially the fight sequence. “They have an amazing interaction that gets pretty physical. It’s something that I’m very proud of, that Sean and I worked very hard on, and I hope people enjoy it!”
