While Fantastic Beasts is setting itself up to be another powerhouse franchise for Warner Bros., there is so much more to the Wizarding World that would make for great spinoff films. Here are 5 More Harry Potter Spinoff Movies We Want to See.
Hogwarts: The New Class
It’s almost obligatory that we giveย Harry Potterย fans the most obvious thing they could want: a continuation of the story.ย Hogwarts: Aย New Classย could easily pick up the story of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Co.’s children continue right where we left them: boarding a train for Hogwarts, and new adventures. It would be the sort ofย Force Awakensย middle ground, mixing old and new into a successful, nostalgia-fueled mix.
…Or,ย The New Classย could just as easily pick up with a totally new Wizarding World future, a new set of characters, and entirely new circumstances. Either way it would be fun.ย
Origins of Magic
The Wizarding World is a fascinating place with a deep history and mythos, but one of the most fascinating stories of all could be learning all about how it got to be that way in the first place.ย
Origins of Magicย is a grandiose tale about how the first humans discovered magic and learned to master it, but that grandeur could be just as powerful if it was grounded in the personal. The other side ofย Origin of Magic‘s story would inevitably be rooted in the eventual split into the two worlds of wizards and muggles; marry that to the story of a family, or some siblings split by the ability to know the wonder of magic (or not), and this would be an origin film hits on all levels

The Founders
ย
Within theย Harry Potterย mythos, Hogwarts is its own bonafide sub-category, with good reason. The wizarding school is filled with as much history and detail as the curriculum it teaches. Seeing how that all came to be would be a fascinating story.ย
Fans know the names ofย Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin – but actually seeing their journey of coming together as friends, adventuring, founding Hogwarts and eventually having the great fall out over blood purity, would be enough to sustain a trilogy of movies, no doubt. It wouldย also be a chance for the franchise to get an ensemble of big stars together, and let their chemistry work its own magic.ย
The Marauders
The Marauders (Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black and James Potter) are a group whose exploitsย crossover with so many important events in the Harry Potter saga.ย The story of how the four boys met at school, fought in the Wizarding War, and generally affected the events that would result in the Harry Potter saga we know and love, would be fascinating to watch over the course of a few films.
More than that though, revelations from the Harry Potter saga clearly demonstrate that none of the four boys is a white-hat saint; from their treatment of Snape, to breaking the rules onย animal transformation to support Remus through his werewolf times, there would be some well-layered and multi-dimensional characterization (both respectively and as a group) to delve into.
Someone call the Duff Brothers for this one. ย
Albus
Everyone is already familiar and with Albus Dumbledore – but reading some of the mythos and historyย that J.K. Rowling built around the character, we realize that we (and fans) may not really know Albus Dumbledore at all!ย
His story begins withย a tragic family upbringing, marred by anti-wizard bigotry; it continues withย early fame as a young prodigy wizard; moves into a possible love affair with Grindelwald that almost resulted in Dumbledore going down a much darker path (conquering the muggle world); and culminatesย with enlightenment and study as this boy from a very rocky beginning evolves into the saintly and righteous Albus Dumbledore we know.
The real question is: would Warner Bros. ever have the cojones to tell a Harry Potterย storyย that complicated? And could the fanbase handle seeing their beloved icon painted in so many shades of gray? We’re willing to find out, if you are…ย ย
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themย will be in theaters on November 18, 2017.
