Arrow The Flash

Since this week had quite a few, it seemed a good week to run a story on them.

So, as usual, check it out. What did we see? What did we miss? Let us know in the comments. You know the drill.

The title

Like many of the titles in this series so far, “Virtual Reality Bites” is a pop culture reference. In this case, it’s a pretty obvious callback to Reality Bites, an iconic ’90s movie featuring Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke and Ben Stiller.

Batman

Yes, Batman gets a name-drop.

were-terrier

YES! Fans of the iZombie comic will know Scotty, the were-terrier. He’s always been a favorite, and a concept so off the wall that it was emblematic of all the stuff that’s hardest to translate to the small screen.

…And now, he’s Ravi’s MMORPG character, apparently.

Obviously, this doesn’t mean that we’ll SEE were-terriers in this show, but it’s a great reference.

Arf Vader

…And the were-terrier’s name is a Star Wars reference, which is perfect.

About a Boy

One of the chapter captions is named after the Nick Hornby novel that spawned both a Hugh Grant movie and, more recently, an NBC series.

That same property got a name-drop last week, when Liv tried to cover Lowell discovering she was a zombie by describing the “perks of being a zombie” as “that movie with the About a Boy kid.”

The actual kid from the About a Boy movie is Nicholas Hoult, who besides being an X-Man also starred in the zombie romantic comedy Warm Bodies.
