Although the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has garnered more discussion since its Black Friday release than some feature length movies released this year, that nearly didn’t happen, according to Indiewire.

Walt Disney Company chief Bob Iger says there were discussions regarding releasing any footage for next year’s highly anticipated sequel.

“I keep telling J.J. Abrams this is a $4 billion movie,” Iger said, referring to how much the studio paid for Lucasfilm. “We need to treat this very special. It’s an unbelievable privilege and unbelievable responsibility to take a jewel and treat it in a way that is respectful of its past but brings it into the future.”

Although Abrams prefers to keep as much about his films a secret before releasing anything, Iger says it was the rabid Star Wars fanbase that convinced the studio to release the teaser.

However the wait for the next trailer will be until the spring when it will screen in front of The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

The Force Awakens hits theaters Dec.18, 2015.
