Executive producer Merry Saltzman said that her company, Placeholder Productions, had secured the rights to a stage show with a book by novelist Dave Clarke (“Keeping Hannah Waiting”), and music and lyrics by country composer Jay Henry Weisz (“Driving Home,” “Only One,” “Man in the Bar,” “The Fight”).

Fleming’s character was featured in 14 novels and will see its 24th big-screen adaptation in the fall, in addition to numerous homages, thinly-veiled imitations and even a spinoff aimed at children — James Bond Jr. — which appeared both on TV and in comics. Earlier today, Dynamite Entertainment announced a new comic book series based on 007 himself from writer Warren Ellis and artist Jason Masters.

James Bond: The Musical will reportedly feature a number of villains, including both new and existing ones. It will also introduce a new “Bond girl,” though no casting has been announced.

“Production schedules and trial runs are still being worked out in anticipation of a late 2017-early 2018 opening,” on Broadway or in Las Vegas, at a venue to be announced, Saltzman said.
