Jeremy Irons is by far the most active Alfred featured in the DC films. Shown in the newest Batman vs Superman trailer at the controls of the Batwing, this Alfred doesn’t seem to stand idly by while Bruce is out in the field, nor keep his concerns and issues with Bruce to himself.

In an interview with Screenrant, Irons shared what he thought of Ben Affleck as the newest incarnation of the Dark Knight.

He’s extraordinary. Quite extraordinary. And Zack Snyder, the director, fantastic vision. And I think the public have a great treat in store.

For people like me who have been in the pro Affleck as Batman camp, this comes as good, if unsurprising news. Affleck has the acting chops to make the role more than another superhero cash-in, and the latest trailer showed off some of the physicality he brings as well. The fact that Irons speaks so highly of him in the role leads me to believe that there is some real meat to the familial/mentor relationship between these two.

More surprising is how well he spoke of Zack Snyder, and specifically his vision. Snyder has come under fire for his gritty take on these characters.
