In 2016, Marvel will debut its second Netflix series, Jessica Jones. After the success of Daredevil, fans are eager to see the next installment of Marvel’s growing television lineup.

Defender
Jessica Jones is the second of four Marvel series that will eventually come together for the Defenders crossover series. It follows Daredevil, and precedes Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
Filming in New York
Like the rest of the Marvel-Netflix series, Jessica Jones is filming in New York City.
Based on Alias
The character of Jessica Jones was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos. The series will be loosely based on her debut comic book series Alias. The comic is receiving a trade paperback reprint ahead of the TV series’ release.
No A.K.A.
The series was originally titled Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones, presumably as a way of acknowledging the comic series’ title without encroaching on the legal territory of J.J. Abrams’ Alias TV series the early 2000s. The “A.K.A.” has since been removed, making the title Marvel’s Jessica Jones.

Krysten Ritter takes the lead
Breaking Bad alum Krysten Ritter has landed the lead role. She’ll be challenged with playing a character suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after an incident that ended her superhero career. She now works as a P.I. for her own Alias Investigations.
David Tennat is the Purple Man
Former Doctor Who star David Tennant will play Kilgrave, known as the Purple Man in Marvel Comics. He is the supervillain responsible for Jessica’s trauma.
Mike Colter as Luke Cage
At least one other Defender will make his debut in Jessica Jones, and that’s Luke Cage, played by Michael Colter. In addition to being one of the Netflix Defenders, Cage is also a love interest for Jessica in the comics.
Rachael Tayler player Patsy Walker
Known as Patsy Walker, Hellcat, in the comics, Rachael Tayler is play Trish “Patsy” Walker, an ex-model and child star who is now a radio host and Jessica’s best friend.

Carrie Anne-Moss is playing a character named Haper, who is a figure of some authority who could be a power ally for Jessica. Eka Darville is playing Malcom, Jessica’s neighbor. Erin Moriarty is hope, one of Jessica’s clients. Wil Traval will play an NYPD police officer.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
