With Alice Through The Looking Glass just a couple of weeks away, Disney is ramping up promotion of the film. They brought Johnny Depp to Disneyland for a special surprise for fans – a live appearance by The Mad Hatter!

After being dressed in his full makeup and costume, The Mad Hatter was projected onto a billboard near the entrance to the park. He remained still at first, until fans started to gather, seeing a wink, or a slight twitch. That moved into full interaction (thanks to a camera placed above the screen), as the actor never broke character, and called fans by name.
It’s a fun, goofy way to show off a little of the Disney magic, and the kind of thing no other company can pull off the same way.
