Just how much disappoint can Star Wars fans takes? Yesterday, we got word that the U.S. Government would not be building a Death Star, mainly due to some silly reason involving not supporting blowing up planets. Now comes official word that Joss Whedon is angry about Star Wars Episode 7.Why is Joss Whedon angry? Because, he will not be directing Star Wars Episode 7. Even though it had been widely assumed already that Joss Whedon would not be directing because of his busy schedule, this is his first official comment on the matter. Some fans (like us) had been holding out hope that maybe Disney had figured out a way to clone Whedon, and he would be able to do both Avengers 2 and Star Wars Episode 7, but alas it looks like human cloning is still a pipe dream. In an interview with CNN about Star Wars, Joss Whedon said, “I’m as angry as you should be. When I heard that I was like, ‘I wonder… no, I really can’t do that. Oh, I already have a job.’ I wouldn’t clear the Avengers. I’m having so much fun with that sequel right now, just with the script, that I couldn’t imagine not doing it.”If Joss Whedon’s schedule had been open, he did have some rather intriguing ideas for Star Wars Episode 7. Joss Whedon said, “Oh I’ve got a lot of things. Where’s my list I’m carrying on me? But you know, I’d like to see a little edge. We all missed the Han [Solo] of it. It got very portentous, which was justified by the story, but I think we’d all like to see a little anarchy in the mix.”Of course, fans can still take some solace in the fact that Joss Whedon is at least interested, which means that there still might be hope for him to direct a future Star Wars sequel or a Star Wars spinoff.
