In an interview with Collider, Reeves responded to the online chatter that he should don the Eye of Agamotto. Essentially, Reeve’s is apprehensive about signing any of the long-term contracts that Marvel studios is famous for. The last thing he wants, he suggested, is to be strapped to a future film that’s not “up to a certain level. Like a good or great level.”
However, Reeves also added, “I like the idea. I mean I go to those kinds of movies. I like superhero movies. I grew up on them and comics and graphic novels.”
While he’s never read a Doctor Strange comic, Reeves said he that would like to read some and familiarize himself with the character. So–we’ll take that as a “maybe?”
If Reeve’s eventually takes the role, it wouldn’t be his first spin as a comic book character. He played John Constantine in 2005 film Constantine, which was met with a lukewarm response.
Doctor Strange does not have a release date just yet, but it is currently in development at Marvel Studios with director Scott Derrickson attached.
