Marton Csokas, the actor who played Celeborn in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, will appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in an as-yet-undisclosed role, according to an unrelated interview in The Hollywood Reporter.Discussing his upcoming turn as a villain in The Equalizer, in which he’ll star opposite 2 Guns star Denzel Washington, Csokas apparently mentioned to THR that he was filming Marc Webb’s spider-sequel, currently underway in New York, Rochester and other locations. No further details were given as to his role in the film, but the actor is listed on IMDb as playing Dr. Kafka, a role which in the comics was a woman’s name. Dr. Ashley Kafka ran Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane, which is a location we’ve seen teased in both official and unofficial set photos a number of times. In the comics, some of her most notable stories have revolved around The Chameleon, a Russian crimelord. Whether he could be involved with Paul Giamatti’s take on the Rhino, also a member of the Russian mob, is unclear but not entirely unlikely. (It wouldn’t be surprising if Kafka turned out to BE The Chameleon in the post-credits sequence, explaining the gender swap, but that’s a whole other thing.)Of course, IMDb is sometimes not a trustworth source for as-yet-unofficial information since it is user-edited and everyday fans enter what they suspect or want to think or what-have you.Besides Lord of the Rings, Csokas also recently wrapped filming on Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. He plays Damian Lord in the film.
