creator Joshua Elder today released a statement to Kickstarter backers telling them that not only is he planning a return for the all-ages action-comedy, but that the story will also be headed to the stage as a production with the Chicago Children’s Theater.Apologizing to fans for a lack of updates since special editions sold through the Kickstarter campaign began to fall behind schedule, Elder explained that he had wanted to explain what was happening, but that the negotiation process has made it almost impossible.”I’ve been negotiating a full-scale relaunch of the series with a major book trade publisher and working to bring Mail Order Ninja to the stage,” Elder wrote. “I’m meeting with the book trade publisher this Friday to make the final pitch, and I received a formal Letter of Intent from the Chicago Children’s Theatre to begin developing the stage adaptation on Monday. I was hoping to make both of these announcements months ago, but the development discussions for both took much longer than I had anticipated. I was also hoping to have the Kickstarter books included in the print deal because then I’d be able to possibly upgrade to color. However because of all the delays, I’ve gone ahead and secured the services of the folks at Print Ninja (How’s THAT for serendipity?) to handle the design and production. The books should be printed and on their way to every backer within 8-12 weeks. What’s more, we’ve uncovered the lost 52 pages worth of Mail Order Ninja comic strips and will be including those in the book at no extra charge.”
