When you have “Ragnarok” in your title, which means the end of the Universe in Norse mythology, and your main villain is Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death and ruler of Hel, it stands to reason that some characters will perish in Thor 3. But who will die?

“Hela will take Asgard and, Thor attempts to stop her,” reports Latino Review. “Hela lays the smackdown on the God of Thunder, destroying his hammer and straight up murdering Thor’s friend Heimdall (Idris Elba).”
This fits with the vision Thor had in Avengers: Age of Ultron. While under Scarlet Witch’s spell, the God of Thunder appeared to be in the Norse Underworld and was greeted by Heimdall. Thor notices something is amiss with Heimdall’s eyes. “Oh, they see everything,” Heimdall says. “They see you leading us to Hel.”
Heimdall’s death is said to come early in the film, but it won’t be the last we see of him. “The final showdown with Hela will feature an army of the dead commanded by the villainess doing battle with good Valkyries from Valhalla and the souls of the righteous fallen, including Heimdall,” LR adds.
Thor: Ragnarok will star Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Cate Blanchett (Hela) and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk). It’ll be directed by Taika Waititi, based on a script by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle and Stephany Folsom.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3, 2017.
