Australian actress Margot Robbie (“Z For Zachariah”) became an overnight sensation after her sensational performance in Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film The Wolf Of Wall Street. For the role of Jordan Belfort’s (Leonardo DiCaprio) trophy wife Naomi Lapaglia, Robbie mastered a thick Brooklyn accent. That accent may come in handy when she becomes Harley Quinn in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.

“None of those things have been set in stone at this point, but according to the comics, she’s from New York and I think Brooklyn, so there may be a slightโฆ I couldn’t imagine it would be as strong as The Wolf of Wall Street accent,” Robbie toldย SuperHeroHype at the Sundance Film Festival. “The lingo will be the difference between that and the other character I played in ‘Wolf’ but I don’t know yet. We haven’t spoken about it.”
Yes, the lingo will separate Harley from Naomi voice wise, but Harley’s voice is a high-pitched Brooklyn accent that is often delivered with a sing-song speech pattern. Whatever direction Robbie chooses to go in we can at least feel confident that she can expertly mask her natural Australian accent.
Suicide Squad will land in theaters Aug. 5, 2016.
