On Sunday, the world was shocked by the news that Wes Craven (A Nightmare On Elm Street, Swamp Thing), the Master of Horror, had passed away after a battle with brain cancer. With only a few days to prepare, MTV’s Scream will pay tribute to the legendary director/screenwriter in their season finale this Tuesday.

“It feels pretty natural [to honor him]. The Scream finale would be nothing, it wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Wes,” executive producer Jill Blotevogel shared with TVLine. “I’m sure there will be a moment-of-silence element to it. I’m not sure exactly what form it will take yet.”

Craven directed the original Scream (1996) film as well as its three sequels. He was an executive producer on MTV’s television adaptation, however, in name only.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Wes Craven’s family and friends.
