“I had thought that I could finally rest when I finished the manga series, but I couldn’t restโ€ฆ” Masashi said (via ANN). “During this time, I finally went on my honeymoon. Even though my son has grown as big as [protagonist Naruto’s son] Boruto.”

Voice actress Yuko Sanpei told Kishimoto that she’d love to see the films continue, but the artist doesn’t know if he has it in him.

“I can’t. Please let me rest now,” Kishimoto replied with a smile.

Boruto picks up from the end of the manga series, with Naruto’s son Boruto attempting to surpass his father by seeking out Sasuke for training.

Boruto will open in Japan on Aug. 7, and will premiere in the United States at New York City Comic-Con. It will then begin screening in 80 U.S. cities on Oct. 10.
