Malina Weissman, who plays the young Kara Zor-El in Kryptonian flashbacks on Supergirl, will play Violet Beaudelaire, while newcomer Louis Hynes will play her brother Klaus in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, EW reports.

The series, which recently cast Neil Patrick Harris as the villainous Count Olaf, recently released its first teaser trailer.
Netflix has tapped former True Blood showrunner Mark Hudis and director Barry Sonnerfield to helm its adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events. Hudis will act as series showrunner, while Sonnerfield will direct and executive produce.
Snicket’s 13-novel children’s series follows siblings Violet, Klaus, ad Sunny Baudelaire after the death of their parents. They are put in the custody of Count Olaf, whose seeks to acquire the children’s inheritance.
A previous adaptation — a feature film starring Jim Carrey — failed to capitalize on the huge success of the novels and earned just $120 million at the domestic box office against a $140 million budget in 2004.
Netflix has yet to announced a release window for the series.
