At the Hasbro event the night before NYCC, a new Hero-scale BB-8 action figure was on display, with quite the surprise. The figure, coming Spring 2016, is equipped with two weapons we’ve never seen on it before.
BB-8 has become a fan favorite quickly; a rolling “ball droid” and astromech, it has been paired with two of the new heroes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey and the pilot Poe Dameron. The remote control Sphero toy’s instant success further showed that with just seconds of footage of the new mechanical character, it’s cuteness rolled it into fans’ hearts.
But apparently, BB-8 also has a violent streak, equipped with an electric shock and a buzz saw on extended arms. That doesn’t mean the droid will turn to evil, though. R2-D2 shocked the occasional baddie, too, after all.
