Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan have been hired by Dimension Films to pen the next installment in the Halloween horror franchise. Melton and Dunstan wrote four of the seven Saw films (numbers IV to VII) as well as Piranha 3DD and God of War.
At this time, there is no director attached to the project. In the past, Patrick Lussier and Todd Famer were working on a Halloween 3D film, but that never materialized. There hasn’t been a new Halloween film since Rob Zombie’s 2009 film, which was follow-up to his 2007 reboot.

Sources say it’s not a remake, not a reboot, and not a reimagining. One source said the project is a “recalibration.” – The Hollywood Reporter
Just my opinion, but I wouldn’t keep producing Halloween films that are only about Michael Myers. Enough is enough. I’d like to see Dimension Films reimagine their Halloween franchise as a horror anthology series like Tales From The Crypt and Creepshow. And to satisfy the loyal Michael Myers fans you can have one of the vignettes devoted to the classic slasher, but the rest should be unique horror stories. Halloween is such a great title, and Dimension isn’t getting the most bang for its buck with just Myers as the focus.
How would you improve the franchise?
