Deadline is now reporting that Rapace will be back to reprise her role. Their sources claim “Rapace is in Australia and on the set to shoot weeks worth of scenes.”

Once the Prometheus sequel received a green-light from 20th Century Fox, most people assumed the story would pick up right where the last film left off: with Elizabeth Shaw (played by Noomi Rapace) and David the android (played by Michael Fassbender) headed toward the Engineer’s home world in search of answers. However, when the official cast was announced last November, Noomi Rapace’s name was noticeably absent. Plus, the official synopsis revealed that the film takes place ten years later and there was no mention of Shaw.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The cast features Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demiรกn Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.

Alien: Covenant is being directed by Ridley Scott, based on a screenplay written by Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern). It’ll open in theaters on August the 4th, 2017.
