Pokemon GO has taken the gaming world by storm in a matter of days, but unfortunately, the launch has encountered some performance issues and server overload.

These are all understandable when you consider just how much the game is trying to do all at once, but it doesn’t make it any less disappointing. One of the aforementioned performance issues occurs when the world map is attempting to load. At times the game struggles to generate sufficient Pokestops or Gyms, leaving some to wonder if they just don’t have one in their area.

Most likely that is not the case, and to help get around the issue you can actually utilize Niantic’s other location-based game Ingress. The game is based on the same design and framework as Pokemon GO, so if you already have an Ingress account (or feel like setting one up) you can load up the map and see all of your local portals. These portals are what Pokemon GO uses to place its Pokestops and Gyms, so even if GO is having issues loading up locations, you’ll know exactly where to go.

Touch Arcade posted an example of this in the image above, with the blue icons representing portals on the map. You can download the app on the iPhone and Android marketplaces and then proceed to setup an account, allowing you access to Ingress’ Map function.
