When the president himself can’t wait to watch your show, one would think Barry Manilow’s “Looks like we made it” immediately starts playing in your head.

Such is the case with HBO’s Game of Thrones. During the premier event of the upcoming sixth season, show creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss confirmed that Barack Obama requested advanced copies of the episodes. Reporter Veronica Belmont asked if that qualified as an “ah-ha” moment.
“I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an ‘ah-ha’ moment,” Weiss said. “That was a very strange moment.”
When asked if they agreed to the request, Weiss said: “Yes, he’s the leader of the free world.”
Benioff added: “When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advanced episodes,’ what are you gonna do?”
Yeah, you can’t really pull the “well, you see, it’s a complicated thing” type of discussion with the President of the United States. Plus, he could just send a SEAL team in to confiscate the copies if he really wanted to.
For the record, Obama is a huge fan of the show, and will be one of only a few to get to see the show before it airs, as no advanced screeners are being sent to press this year due to the secrecy of the plotlines.
The job does have its perks. Oh, and that whole personal plane thing is kind of cool too.
