Rise of the Tomb Raider was always a timed exclusive for the Xbox One, and the PS4 edition – and release date – has now been officially announced. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will hit PS4 on October 11, 2016, and it’s being presented similarly to “Game of the Year Editions” or “definitive editions” of other games in the past
That means it will have all of the previously released DLC – plus some brand-new story missions to play. In “Blood Ties,” you’ll get to explore Croft Manor, revealing new aspects of Lara’s history and legacy. The “Lara’s Nightmare” mode will have you defending that same map against an undead invasion. For PSVR gamers who pick up the new headset that same month, they’ll also be able to play “Blood Ties” all the way through, the full story of that DLC content, in VR. That’s all in addition to the “Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch” story DLC, the “Cold Darkness Awakened” survival DLC, and all outfits, weapons, and expedition cards. Endurance mode also gets co-op, so you and a friend can try those missions together for the first time.

Of course, this is the “20 Year Celebration” edition, and that means a look into the past of Lara. You can now put on a Tomb Raider III cold-weather outfit and Hailstorm pistol, revised to look on-par with her other modern outfits. There will also be the ability to replay the entire main story with all five classic Lara character models – yes, that means the polygonal Lara Croft of the original Tomb Raider release running through the nearly photo-realistic environments of Rise of the Tomb Raider this fall.
No price was revealed with the announcement.
