‘Super Dinosaur,’ the all-ages (but mainly aimed at kids) comic book written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Jason Howard, is getting the trade paperback treatment. The series, starring a boy genius and a genetically modified Tyrannosaurus Rex, was a huge success earlier this year—both from a sales and critical standpoint.’Super Dinosaur, Vol. 1 TP’ will hit shelves November 23rd.Cover price is $9.99, and the TP will cover the first 5 issues of the series.”Since becoming a parent, I wanted to create a comic book that parents can read with their kids or that kids can pick up and read on their own,” said Kirkman. “We also wanted to create a comic that’s appropriate for younger kids but doesn’t talk down to them, so it will interest older readers as well!”As a parent of two young kids, there have been two things inhibiting the introduction of comics into my children’s lives. One, is a true lack of quality comic books for younger readers. Two, it’s difficult for them to have to wait for the next issue to come out. When I get them locked in to a comic, they want to keep going, not wait a month to see what happens next. With ‘Super Dinosaur,’ Kirkman and Howard tackled the former problem. With the issue of the trade paperback, Image Comics has taken care of the latter problem.
