Fraction is the co-creator of Sex Criminals, along with artist Chip Zdarsky. The series follows two characters, one female and one male, who discover that time around them stops when they orgasm, allowing them to enter a sate referred to as “The Quiet.” When the two character enter a romantic relationship, they decide to use their time-stopping sex powers to rob a bank and save the library where Suzie, the female protagonist, works.

Under the new deal with Universal TV, Sex Criminals will be just the first of Fraction and DeConnick’s works to be adapted for television.

“We’re always excited to usher in fresh voices to the television space, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Matt and Kelly Sue, a fantastic pair whose award-winning comics are as deeply realized as they are entertaining,” said Universal TV EVP Bela Bajaria.

Fraction and DeConnick have both written for Marvel Comics. DeConnick still currently writes Captain Marvel, and previously worked on Avengers Assemble. Fraction is finishing up his Eisner-winning run on Hawkeye, and previously wrote Invincible Iron Man, Uncanny X-Men, and The Mighty Thor.

Both creators have recently shifted their attention towards their creator-own projects, any of which could now be considered for adaptation. In addition to Sex Criminals, Fraction has been working on ODY-C, a gender-swapped cosmic retelling of The Odyssey, as well as Satellite Sam and a new volume of Casanova. DeConnick has debuted the western fantasy series Pretty Deadly and, more recently, Bitch Planet.
