“In celebration of Space Jam’s 20th anniversary and the NBA All-Star Game in Toronto on February 14, TIFF Next Wave presents a live read of this Looney Tunes/โโlive-action mashup with an exciting lineup of talent from the sports and entertainment worlds,” reads a statement on TIFF’s official website. “Stay ‘tooned’ via social media for cast announcements!”
Space Jam debuted in November 1996 and featured NBA superstar Michael Jordan teaming up with the Looney Tunes to defeat a group of aliens — who stole their basketball skills from other NBA superstars — in a basketball game that would decide the fate of Earth.
Over the past couple years, there have been rumors of Space Jam 2 starring LeBron James being in the works but those rumors have cooled off.
