Last month, scientists from the University of Cambridge released a study saying it was scientifically impossible for Spider-Man to walk on walls. Soon after, Stephen Colbert devoted a portion of his late night talk show to discussing their findings.

This caught the attention of Stanford engineers, who have designed a controllable adhesive system that can stick to glass and support a person’s weight. Thus, making Spider-Man’s wall-crawling ability quite plausible.
