Star Trek Online Coming to PS4 and Xbox One Fall 2016

Star Trek Online, in its sixth year as a free-to-play MMORPG on PC, is coming to consoles this fall. The game is getting a serious facelift for the PS4 and Xbox One release, as can be seen in the trailer above, showing off the PS4 looks.

The game will be offered for free, and includes tight controls mapped to the console controllers, new modern lighting technology for more realistic lighting (which will also come to the PC version), and a full UI overhaul. That means both the look and the back-end of the UI was rewritten for better performance. Fans jumping in will have over 130 episodes of game content to play through, so it should keep them busy for quite some time. Official game description follows:

Star Trek Online is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online game where players can pioneer their own destiny as Captain of a Federation starship, become a Klingon Warrior and champion the Empire through the far reaches of the galaxy, or rebuild the Romulan legacy as the commander of a Romulan Republic Warbird. Its last expansion, Star Trek Online: Delta Rising, brought players into the Delta Quadrant and reintroduced them to iconic members from the Star Trek: Voyager cast including Seven of Nine, The Doctor, Harry Kim, Neelix and Tuvok. In Star Trek Online players have the opportunity to visit iconic locations from the popular Star Trek universe, reach out to unexplored star systems and make contact with new alien species.
