The park is already headlong into construction on a new roller coaster, and it will be themed after one of the most enduring franchises in all of geekdom Star Trek (via StarTrek.com). Titled Star Trek: Operation Enterprise, the coaster is actually the first dedicated Star Trek coaster, something I can’t believe has taken this long to exist.

The coaster will be located right at the front entrance of the park, so it will be impossible to miss. The ride is being designed as a launch coaster, and will be the second highest construction when it is finally complete. The park is also using Germany’s own Company Mack Rides to build the coaster, so the project is German created in its entirety.

You can see the beginnings of the experience taking shape in the park’s time-lapse video above, and the ride is expected to open sometime in 2017.

Star Trek is just the latest franchise to be welcomed through the doors of Movie Park Germany. The park already plays host to experiences and rollercoasters from franchises like Spongebob Squarepants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Dora the Explorer, Jimmy Neutron, and many others.
